End of the Highway

You'll see a place near the end of the highway,

truth lies in the desert sand.

Truth, not what you say, not what I say,

truth of what guns did to a man,

truth you need to understand.

Call him person 2 - 8

as if he didn't have a name,

as if Eduardo Alvarez

deserved to die this bloody way.

He had come through here 4 times before --

2 time going south, 2 times going north

but this time his blood, it stains the sand

and the clothes he wore.

You'll see a place near the end of the highway...

His mother does not yet know

that her son won't be coming home --

home to the house he was building her

that's now so much unfinished work.

And who knows what else he left undone?

He was 22, he was much too young

to be lying in the desert sand,

shot by some men with guns.
