Halfway Home
Restless in the autumn wind
when the leaves begin to fall.
Mama says I'm lost again
but it's not like that at all.
I'm just a child that's grown
and I guess that she don't know
that I'm halfway home.
Look at all the troubles I see,
don't they turn my head around!
But Mama, don't you worry 'bout me,
I don't let it bring me down.
Someday it may get old
somewhere down this road.
Now I'm only halfway home.
I done quit all my worldly ways
and I left my past behind
and you can see it in my face
all about my restless mind
but babe, you don't know
how the cold wind blows
when you're only halfway home.

Halfway Home
Restless in the autumn wind
when the leaves begin to fall.
Mama says I'm lost again
because I didn't answer her call,
and I guess she doesn't know
how her child has grown
and that I'm halfway home.
Look at all the troubles I see,
don't they turn my head around!
But Mama, don't you worry 'bout me,
I don't let it bring me down.
Someday it may get old
somewhere down this road
but now I'm only halfway home.
I heard the call, I answered it
and I left my past behind.
Along the way, the road has turned a bit
so I keep my compass in sight.
I guess I've got a lot more to go
and how the cold wind blows
when you're only halfway home.
