Cigarettes and chocolate

might be how she starts her day

studying the portrait of a saint.

The light falls through the window,

falls in just a certain way.

She tries to catch the moment with her paints.

That win some, lose some kind of girl

in blue jeans and a string of pearls,

I met her in this crazy world,

something true to hold on to.

Step back from the painting.

Still she's not satisfied.

It isn't quite what she had in mind.

I might not know painting

but I know what I like

and I think her colors are just fine.
