Play Monopoly
So long ago now you don't remember
when you rolled the dice for the first time ever.
Not much older than a baby
when you learned the game that you are playing.
You learned that chance was not always your friend.
Sometimes you got some help from the community chest.
At first you played for fun, it was a toy
now you've got to play Monopoly, you don't have any choice.
The electric company charge gets higher
and you'll pay more if you're a railroad rider
and it's getting harder and harder
to pay the rent down at Marvin Gardens
and no matter how long you play the game
your salary still seems to stay the same.
Some of these bills you can't avoid,
but you've got to play Monopoly, you don't have any choice.
The sports car player can afford to stop
and take a walk on the boardwalk
or sell some stock to start paying
to make a move over to Park Place
and Mr. Top Hat, as you can see
has a card to get out of jail free.
These are privileges you don't enjoy
but you've got to play Monopoly, you don't have any choice.
You didn't quit, you kept on playing
though you had less money for each time shaking
and if the bank makes an error
you can bet it won't be in your favor.
You had to take a mortgage or two
and if you can't pay them off, what do you do?
You're losing property, getting destroyed
but you've got to play Monopoly, you don't have any choice.
