Driving in My Sleep Again
Good thing I woke up with both hands on the wheel.
You know how that feels when you're doing 110
and I thought I was driving my old black Dodge van
but now here I am in a little red Corvette.
Have I been driving in my sleep again?
I wonder where I am and how I got here.
I blink my eyes and I don't know what state I'm in --
Iowa or I owe you?
Newlywed or New Hampshire?
Thinking about driving through the hayloft of a barn,
could have been a dream but then maybe not.
Last I can remember I was on the interstate
but now it looks like it's two lanes
and there's hay in my socks.
Have I been driving in my sleep again?
I wonder where I am and how I got here.
I blink my eyes and I don't know what state I'm in --
Illinois or ill and annoyed?
Delusion or Delaware?
Now some folks hate to drive
but I find it so relaxing
I could close my eyes in Memphis
and not open them till Jackson.
Honestly, officer, what's all the to do
over a few bent telephone lines
and can't all these nervous type who don't know how to duck
just stay off the sidewalk instead of waking me up?
Have I been driving in my sleep again?
I wonder where I am and how I got here.
I blink my eyes and I don't know what state I'm in --
Tenacity or Tennessee?
Alaska or I'll ask her?
Washing clothes or Washington?
Connecticut or connected up?
All bananas or Alabama?
Wyoming or why oh why oh why oh why me?
