Windblown Rhymes
Shipwrecked souls litter the street,
begging your eyes and ears.
Some wave broke on this concrete
and left them scattered here.
It's a thousand years since yesterday
when they rode so fast and high
on the shadows and sunshine of their windblown rhymes.
"Follow me" they seem to cry,
parading, waving flags --
holy robes, leather and studs,
mohawks and trendy rags.
Just put on some shades and they'll show you
the way the blind lead the blind
through the shadows and sunshine of their windblown rhymes.
Which way do we go from here,
waking from dreams and lies?
All I know is you'd best take care
that what you put on fits you right.
I'm gonna put out my thumb
and see what I can maybe find
in the shadows and sunshine of their windblown rhymes.

Windblown Rhymes
Shipwrecked souls along the street
begging your eyes and ears.
Some wave broke on this concrete
and left them stranded here.
It's a thousand years since yesterday
when they rode so fast and high
on the shadows and sunshine of their windblown rhymes.
"Follow me" they seem to cry,
parading, waving flags --
holy robes, leather and studs,
green hair and trendy rags.
Just put on some shades and they'll show you
the way the blind lead the blind
through the shadows and sunshine of their windblown rhymes.
And where will these street wise men
and their mean street wisdoms be
when the morning sun shines clearly
on the dark side of their dreams?
You might find some pieces
in the ruins left behind
of the shadows and sunshine of their windblown rhymes.
