Keep an eye on the road ahead

so you don't get surprised by what happens next.

even when you can't handle how you feel

I can see it all from my Chevy six

where I get my kicks.

Ride the inside going around the bend

and don't go too wide to the right or left.

Even on the straight you'd better watch your speed

and don't go the wrong way on a one-way street.

Watch where you're going so you don't get hurt

by the soft shoulders and the dangerous curves.

You can slow down but not too much.

Look if you want but you'd better not touch.

Don't bet your life on a roll of the dice

as if lightning strikes in the same place twice

and don't gamble everything just so

you can go faster in a no-passing zone.

I can see it all...

Watch the jerks with the tire squeals

who want to take their turns on just two wheels

and don't get to close to those highway fools

who just don't know what they're going to do.

I can see it all...

You've got to turn on your radio

and find yourself some good rock and roll

and then you'll know just how good it feels

rolling down the road in an automobile.
