Guitar Gypsy

Will you open your door to the guitar gypsy?

Sometimes he plays it rough, sometimes he plays it pretty.

His songs can take you places you have never been,

painting pictures with the music that he spins

around the room and back again.

Once in a while from his jangling strings

you catch a flash of some deeper thing

reflecting off the surface of the song he sings.

When you open your door to the guitar gypsy

you open your eyes and ears to possibility.

Listening to his stories you sometimes feel a spark

that if it once should catch might quickly start

a wildfire in your heart.

In his pocket he might have a key

that could unlock some dark mysteries

but he won't show it unless you ask to see.

Chilly wind blows the autumn leaves across the marking stones.

Do not let the guitar gypsy forget his time here isn't long.
